I bought a PCI USB 2.0 expansion card (no-name) that was supposed to have a VIA chipset, but they actually sent me an ALi chipset. I could do small individual transfers, but when I tried big files, or lots of small files it would LOCK UP MY PC COMPLETELY--I literally had to pull the plug out of the wall to turn it off.
I returned the ALi card and demanded a refund or a VIA card. They sent me the VIA card, and it works like a charm.
