It uses TWAIN and is capable of 4800 ppp, up A4 DIN size, OCR capable, parport and it should allow to have a printer connected. It is a CCD device (cool cathode device).
Works with Mandriva 2005LE, Ubuntu 5.04 (and presumably others).
The following assumes that your scanner is on parport0.
Edit /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and remove the hash (#) sign from the line
#mustek_pp
Edit /etc/sane.d/mustek_pp.conf and add the following line:
scanner 6000P parport0 ccd300
(If there are any entries already there for this scanner, make sure the lines start with a hash sign).
From a root terminal, type
ls -l /dev/parport*
(note that this does not work if you try to use Konqueror).
Make sure that the user you want to scan from has read and write access to /dev/parport0
Start Xsane, and your scanner should be detected.
The only problem I have had is with photcopying from Kooka. It works OK from Xsane.
As always, if you hear a loud clicking or grinding noise, especially if the lamp is at the end of its travel, disconnect the power from the scanner immediately.
