This board worked fantastically upon first install with Fedora Core 3.

Everything worked right out of the box, and even though I have PATA disks on it at the moment, it successfully found the SATA/RAID/Sound/Gigabit ethernet with no fiddling around or extra drivers.

I have a GF4 MX 440 video card which works perfectly for it.

Gigabit seems nice and fast, got a few OS X users connecting and transferring at nice high speeds via Samba.

Highly recommended combination! :)

UPDATE: I forgot to mention, plugging a WD 250GB firewire disk in worked perfectly too, found it right away.

It just workes!
The mobo telling me that it had passed POST and was now booting my operating system was kinda scary first time but she shuts up when yoou plug a sound card in (creative soundblaster thingy) or you turn it off in bios - nice splash screen @ boot too.
Over all a very nice board with LOADS of connections - if 4 usb 2.0 on board isn't good enough it comes with a bracket to double that ( I used one set of headers to go to my case front ) same for firewire but only 2 in total.
Gentoo does't pick up the network card, I had to go into fed to see what driver that uses then mod probe it in gentoo install - still no joy with getting it up though, it seems that it only comes live when asked for rather then being live 24/7 so it can be prodded to see what it is - just thought: I'll see if the mobo has a wake on lan option, see if that helps.
*-edit-* Use sk98lin driver and it works fine. -*edit*-
Overall a great board and works faultlessly with Fedora 3 - 64 and 32 bit (I went back to 32 untill they get some more suppost for hardware etc. and plugins for firefox!!)

Overclocking support is very good with my CPU - I'm at 2.4ghz with no problems.

Most of the hardware was detected during the initial install boot. However, the network device:
Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter (rev 13)
was not. After a few bad threads during a google, I found the module:
sk98lin
worked to get this pup up on the net to complete the install. The rest of the devices seem to work just fine, the AMD64 3200 seems to want to jump out the box it's so fast :)

Cool

Update:

To get the HD's recognized, I ended up having to modprobe the ide_disk module, which is quite odd to me, it's never happen to me before, anyway, it's still working just great, just a few oddities.

No Problems found.
Everything seems to work great right out of the box.
I haven't tried the SATA/RAID yet, but that will come soon enough.

Highly recommended
This thing flat out screams!

this mobo works just fine. The ethernet card wasn't found by the gentoo livecd, but i don't blame the mobo for that :)

the driver for the ethernet card was sk98lin for earlier 2.6 kernels, but i think it's been replaced by a newer module. skge or something.

Installed with a Sempron 64/2800 cpu. That was not supported by BIOS until version 1.03. Check that if you use a Sempron 64.
Flashing the BIOS can be a problem with many reports of trouble on the ASUS forums. The copy I downloaded from ASUS erased my original BIOS and failed to flash the new. wpyh at the LQ forums suggested I should borrow an EEprom programmer and re-program the chip. I was too ignorant to understand him and instead followed the advice on ASUS Forums to buy a replacement chip with the correct BIOS. Then I found out how easy it is to remove and replace a BIOS chip. =:-O

But -- absent ignorance of my magnitude -- this is a great board. I found it on e-bay -- hence its low price.
