SUSE:
When KDE loads, I get a message
"You monitor did not report is X and Y geometry correctly" however, I can read everything without a problem, so I just ignore it. This happens on the stock 2.6.4 kernel. When I compiled 2.6.9, this no longer happens.
Very happy with my laptop, you should probably add for RAM though.
<edit> Modem works with the hsfmodem package available at

Would you recommend the product? yes | Price you paid?: $700.00 | Rating: 10
Kernel (uname -r):
2.6.11.10, 2.6.12-rc4-mm1, 2.6.11-ck8-r1
Distribution:
Gentoo
Gentoo 2004.3 and 2005.0 have worked flawlessly. There is no need to get the ATI drivers from the link I posted earlier as the default install of gentoo allows 3d accelertation.
I still haven't tried the modem since I use either my LAN connection at work, or wireless at work. (wireless added after purchase)
If you want my CFLAGS, just IM me
