Description:

A rather cheap but fairly decent graphics card. Works wonderfully under Linux (I've only used it under RH 9 and Slackware 9.1, but it should work just as well on all distros).

Very nice and cheap card. I'm getting 1900 FPS with glxgears (!) when using the 'nvidia' drivers.

Good value for money - horsepower may be wanting if you absolutely demand AA and AF and all those other little quibbles. If you aren't totally anal about those, then this card is a gem for users on a budget.

I am using dual Sony LCD displays. At first I had some trouble since SAX2 would not recognize that I had two displays. I downloaded and installed the drivers from Nvidia and manually set my XF86config file to get both monitors working. Now it works great.

Works wonderfully with linux and FreeBSD. Enabling SBA and fast-write gives a very good output. The 1.0-5336 drivers support 2.6 kernels.

Works perfectly on Mandrake 9.2 (2.4.22-10mdk) .. however there are very serious driver issues with 2.6 branch kernels ... on Mandrake 10.0, the nVidia drivers messed up and I could no longer use XFree86... every time I booted X crashed and took me to console login. Had to completely reinstall after moving all my stuff over to my Windows partition.
Disabling local APIC seems to help with the drivers, but it's still no guarantee. If you're on a 2.6 kernel and using a 5200 FX... you might wanna wait until nVidia releases better drivers.

Setting it up took a lot of googling and a lot of patience, but now it's running it works well. The only downside is if I set the console to anything other than vga=normal it becomes unreadable when I shut down X. A pity, as I like to view as many lines of text as possible.

This card works great for most small games, but when i tried any game that required 3D, it woulnt start. ex. I can play KTron, but not ArmageTron an Tuxracer. I tried installing the NVIDIA driver package to fix this, but when it compiled it for my kernel my computer froze when it got to 100% I tried many times with the same result. I couldnt get this card to work with 3d games.

Flawless install - followed the readme online (good old Links!)
Should add that whilst it says 8x AGP on the box, the readme says it supports 4x too and as that's what my motherboard supports I can confirm that it's true.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein works great - much much better than my old ATI Rage 128 which struggled in anything but the lowest settings.

I did run this under Rad Hat 9 before ungrading to Fedora Core 2 and did have some problems running X.
With a new Kernel and Nvidia drivers it runs great. I always rebooted my system into windows to play any games but now Linux runs them quicker and smoother with less crashes (i think i only had 1 which was easy to kill).
If you want a cheap card with frequent driver updates and easy install go for a GeForce FX. You do need to update the drivers from the nvidia web site if you want to do any gaming/3D app work as it will most likely need the GLX module installed.

Installation was a breeze. Did require manual changes to a conf file, booting back to GNOME brought great results. One of the better "bang for the buck" video cards. Used drivers from nVidia site.

You need the drivers from the nVidia site for 3D -- I haven't had any issues with compatibility. Did not require any manual editing of configuration files.
