During install, FC2 found the LSI U160 scsi card driver right away. I'm really happy with the performance.

Kernel (uname -r): Tested on 2.6.7 and on
Distribution: Any

This applies to the integrated controller on my motherboard (LSI Logic C896 Dual SCSI controller on the AMI MegaRUM II motherboard)

Although I have yet to reach a conclusion about what is the problem, here's a brief description of it: the system won't boot with the sym53c8xx module loaded PROVIDED AN SMP KERNEL IS USED.

When it comes to the 2.6.9-5.0.3.ELsmp stock kernel which comes with CentOS 4.0, the system will boot if I provide the noapic option to the kernel. This leads to the conclusion that it might be a buggy BIOS issue which only affects my motherboard.

However I have not succeded in booting any other 2.6 smp kernel, even with the noapic option (including a compilation of the 2.6.11.7 kernel using the CentOS 4.0 smp stock .config file as a base for my final .config file).
