I am yet to try the camera with 2.6.2 or higher. I don't know what difference that will make.
The camera's resolution or light capture ability are bad. However, it's good as a toy. I should have read the reviews before I bought it! The box (and the lens ring)seems to mislead when it says Mpeg4, and .asf is properly compatible with only windows media player.
However, the videos run fine on VLC, so you should try it. I could not get the brightness or contrast settings to work in VLC either under windows or Linux.
It seems the drivers for Linux are not available anywhere. Somebody should really try to write one. I am just a newbie without any programming knowledge, otherwise I would, certainly. The camera is detected on the USB port, but not correctly. Digital Kamera (?) should work with it once the drivers are available.
Rgds,
Nishit
