I tried this card in a older celeron 500MHz box -- the card prevented the box from booting -- I think it has to do with PCI rev. mismatch between the card and the motherboard. The card works on a newer Athlon XP smp motherboard. The performance using sata_sil driver stinks. I read somewhere that it could be due to compatibilty issues between the sata chip on the card and the drives.

[root@mythtv firefox-installer]# /sbin/hdparm -Tt /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 928 MB in 2.00 seconds = 463.38 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 2 MB in 4.30 seconds = 476.57 kB/sec
