Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit LAN

Intel PRO/2200BG wireless NIC
SD/MMC card reader
DVD/CDRW combo drive
USB2 and Firewire
Impression:
Very well put together laptop, I really recommend it! Works well width linux and windows. I use debian sarge (2.6.8.1). Almost dead-quiet when fans are off. 1 dead pixel on screen, acceptable. 2.75 kg = very good. Battry lasts about 4 hours. Buggy BIOS makes it difficult to read battery status from Linux. There seems to be workarounds for this.
Video:
I use the radeon driver that comes with the vanilla kernel, it works flawlessly. I've read here and there that you can download better drivers from ATI, but I havn't tried it. I just entered the 1280x800 in XFConfig-4 file, and voila! I've had no problems in any programs with the wide resolution format.
Sound:
I use OSS drivers that comes with the kernel, Works fine (better that windows actually), mixer also works fine. I tried ALSA, it compiled but I heard nothing. Probably my fault, I guess if you really giv it a go it will work.
CD/DVD:
Connected via /dev/hdc = no problems.
USB:
v2.6 biult-in USB support, works fine.
Network:
The broadcom NetXtreme controller can use the Tigon3 (T3) driver in the linux kernel (2.4 and 2.6). There's driver to download and path into kernel also.
The Intel PRO/2200BG wireless adapter works as of sep 2004 (drivers are under development). Still in beta right now, but works fine. Compile them as module, otherwise firmware loading fails at boot. There's good info about this in the README file.
Modem:
I don't use it, so I don't know. It's a AC97 modem from Intel, so chanses are good to get it working.
PCMCIA:
Worked right away, haven't touched anything.
SD/MMC card reader:
Seems to be connected via PCMCIA, but I haven't got it to work, and few seems to have succeded.
IR:
Haven't tested.
TV-out:
Havn't tested.
