It worked on both machines, straight out of the box, using K3b.

Advertised at FRY`S outpost 10/16/04 4:08pm pst.
researched Toshiba,s site & found great information on devices: SD-R5272/ SD-R5372kit/SD-R5112kit & SD-R5112. all have documentation, driver,s, jumper settings,plus faqs including specs. none of which was officially supported by linux nor mfg. however via windows nt is supported by mfg which may allow linux users to slip in. NOTE: did sent message via their own site requesting their developers for assistance in providing drivers that support any linux distro. awaiting
reply this coming week (10/18thru10/21/04). will keep posting results.

DO NOT USE CompUSA DVD-R Media! They were not at all recognized as being burnable discs by this drive. I had perfect success with TDK DVD+R.
