Reliable desktop laser printer. Toner cartriges last forever. No longer in production, replaced with newer model.
Works great, using with CUPS without a problem. Using with Mandrake 9.2.

In mandrake 9.2 and 9.1 the printer works great. It is automaticly detected and prints fine. On Gentoo once you have parallel support and paralled printer support in charcter devices, CUPS installed, and have gotten a driver (gimp-print worked the best for me) the printer worked wonderfully.

Crapy "made for windows(R)" printer, had a lot of troubles with a hardware bug (it was feeding two or more sheets at once) until HP provided a fix that was shipped by mail for free, and finally I use Linux for over 4 Years with this printer - I don't want to tell you what a horror was to me getting it print as I like it.
Recently the PPD's corresponding to this printer have improved and it is working fine.
I would advise you to avoide "made for windows(R)" hardware.

I have one of these ancient printers. It always worked fine under Windows 95 and Red Hat 9. It even worked more recently under Ubuntu 11.04. However, when I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 and then to 12.04, I could not get it to work anymore, even though drivers are still provided by Ubuntu. I finally gave up and brought a more modern Brother.
