I basically use the drivers available with the Printer configure tool.
I was able to get upto 300 dpi B&W with the HP/Deskjet -> pcl3 It wouldn't do color but it was a start.
Next I found the 2000C with the Gimp-Print option works with upto 600 dpi.
Both of these options are shy of the 4800 x 1200 dpi listed, but at least it goes
