Description: This is a powerful little pda that runs linux. It can be a pain to set it up to sync in linux unless you are running a latest (2.6.X) series kernel.

I'm running a 2.6 kernel which has support for this built in. The connection is run through a usbnet module. The network interface is automatically started up through hotplug when you turn on the zaurus in the cradle. This interface is usually called usb0. You will probably have to do the initial setup of the network but once you have that going it's very easy to use.

I use qtopiadesktop running under gnome to sync. This PIM software has all the PIM sections that the zaurus has and syncs ok. (There are some problems with dates sometimes).

The only downside is that the zaurus occasionally locks up when being removed from the cradle which requires a reboot on the zaurus. It only happens every now and then though. This is sharps fault apparently and even happened to me on my win2000 machine at work.

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.7-goddard
Distribution: Gentoo 2004.2

A very nice PDA, can play movies. The usbnet driver inside the kernel works fine, but for some reason I could only ping it, not sync it. This doesn't seem to be Linux's fault, as Windows 2000 had the same problem. I just use the wireless network to transfer files onto it from there. It should work fine with QTopiaDesktop.

Using OpenZaurus 3.5.4RC ROM. usbnet(built into kernel) works fine. Static IP address' on both sides(zaurus and computer). The only thing I can't do is transfer files, and do IP Masq for the zaurus(connection to internet over USB, through wireless from laptop). Very Nice PDA!!!
