Description: The incredible old Dual Chip Pentium Pro motherboard that pushed x86 off of the desktop and into the server-room. There are google-able jumper settings to take a pair of 200Mhz .5Mb cache chips up to 266Mhz each.

The VRM for this is removable, so if you pick one up used and plan on running SMP, make certain its there as it isn't easy to track one down. Also, socket 8 HSFs are getting harder to find.

Makes for a tough little server, heck, ask Jeremy, LQ was running entirely off of one of these for a long time.

Would you recommend the product? yes | Price you paid? (in USD): $40.00 | Rating: 10

Kernel (uname -r): 2.4.20
Distribution: Slackware 8.1

Runs like a champ! Jumperable to 266 like the review says, my PPros were only stable to 240 but ran like that for weeks with no prob until I got cautious and turned em back down to 200. Fun little multiple processor board to own since its cheap to find.

All the onboard components are supported with drivers in modern Linux kernels. The o/b 10/100 Ethernet NIC is typical Intel reliability, the o/b SCSI is typical Adaptec reliability and the sound isn't top of the line but it works fine. Has 4 PCI and a couple ISA slots and even has USB ports! Find a decent PCI vid card and it will even run X with surprising ease for it's age.
