Description: Socket A, AMD Duron / Athlon / Athlon XP motherboard. Officially supports 1.4GHz and faster, though I run a 1.1GHz Duron just fine.

AMD 761, 3 x DDR DIMM (PC1600/2100 DDR SDRAM), Max 3GB DRAM.

1 x AGP 4X/2X, 5 x PCI, 1 AMR, IDE supports RAID, 4 x USB2.0, 2 x USB1.1 (cable), 2 x USB1.1 (onboard)

Onboard CT5880 sound, Award Dual Bios.

Set up faultlessly with Slackware 10 (2.4.26), runs with Leadtek GF3 Ti200, Seagate 13GB and 160GB harddisks, 256MB RAM. Dual boots Slackware and W2k. Not tested RAID function as of yet.

Onboard CT5880 sound was distorted in KDE, but fixed by unchecking 'load volumes on login' in KDE Control Center -> Sound & Multimedia -> Mixer and muting all references to 'iec958' in kMix.

Apart from loud Northbridge fan (replaced with Spire fan which also makes a racket), this motherboard has performed perfectly in Linux and W2k. Recommended.

I bought it from Yahoo bid, used it in a 2U case as my backup server. It featured Promise IDE RAID but watch, the hardware RAID supports only RAID 0 & 1, besides, no hardware RAID driver available. You may forget about the RAID function.

My system is composed of this board, a 3com NIC, an S3Virge PCI card, 5 IDE drives, 4 system fans(one connected to the AGP power socket), 1 Athlon XP 2000+ (running as 1900+, it even runs Sempron though officially not endorsed) with a low-profile CoolJay copper CPU fan, 1x512M DDR 400 DRAM. So far everything is fine.

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.5, 2.6.9
Distribution: CentOS 4.0, 4.2

System hangs after installation, during boot process, at hardware detecting steps, on audio or after audio.

Re-installed with FC2 and seems workable.
