I just installed Gentoo AMD64 stage3.
I can tell you that everything works like a charm except for the 3com gigabit network card.

I am now trying Debian pure64 and i'll let ya know how it goes.

So how has it worked out for you? And isnt there also a RAID 5 option available?

Yes there is a raid option but i only use 1 sata disk at the moment so i can't help you with any raid related questions.
