Works perfectly in Linux.
Just create a mount point, mount it with "-t vfat" option, and copy over pics.
The camera is an excellent device, very full-featured with tons of options. Drawbacks would be pretty aggressive battery consumption (especially when using the LCD), and the limited capacity of the smartmedia storage.
