SuSE 9.0 solved problem with ACPI (permanent fan); Mandrake 9.0 or 10 and RedHat 7.3 or 8.0 or 9.0 did not.
Solvable problems with Winmodem, it uses a driver from linuxant (conexant hsf-modem) which for Kernel 2.4 and 2.6 can be compiled on the system. Driver has to be bought.
Mainstream distro's have no sound problems.
