Kernel (uname -r):
2.6.9 (also worked with 2.4.26-28)
Distribution:
Slackware 10 (Updated with -current so it should be close to 10.1)
Install was pretty straight foward. Under 2.4 everything seemed to work fine (please note the Intel IPW2200 Wireless LAN driver only works in 2.6 kernels). Once I upgraded to 2.6.9 i couldn't get my TV-output the work correctly, but I might need a quick patch in the kernel or a setting I missed. I didn't persue it because I never really use it often. Under 2.6 Kernels < 2.6.9, the mouse will not work. From what I can recall reading, Linus updated the mouse features and in 2.6.9 the synaptics touchpad driver was added, so under 2.6.9 it seems to work quite alright. Please note the notebook seems to crash when the CPU saving (when battery is enabled) is enabled in the BIOS--so disable it. The screen saving function seems to be fine though.
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Driver for Linux
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/
I have not tried the InfraRed & Firewire. I can't get the "special buttons" or the audio DJ front buttons to work either.
i just upgraded to FC4, after an attempted gentoo 2005.1 install. the ipw2200bg works just fine if the firmware from http://freshrpms.net/ is installed. the only problem im having right now is some settings with the ALPS touchpad, it works fine, ive got doubletap, and all three buttons working, but the scroll wheel refuses to work. the driver used under Xorg is the synaptics driver [ALPS support is incorporated into this driver]. im sure its just a matter of time till i get the proper X settings.
