Description: Once I have my fireware adapter installed, video capture from this camera was a no-brainer. All of the AV/C functions in Kino are able to control the camera with playback right to the comptuer screen.

The camera also has an MMC/SD flash memory card. The card stores still photos taken while video taping or during playback or just taking still shots. If the ZR85 is connected to the computer via USB, the photos on the card are accessable via gphoto from gtkam or Lphoto. Just choose the camera as a "Picture Transport Protocol" device.

Very nice digital video camera with no problems using it in Linux, thanks to the Free Software driver and application writers!
Keywords: digital video camera still photos memory card
Connection Type: USB for still photos and Firewire for video

Cheaper to buy a Digital Camera with video capabilities. You'll get better looking pictures and probley better video. Not even worth taking pictures on this thing and the Video quality is average at best. Does work out the box on SuSE 9.2 and 9.3.
