for the money when I bought it which was 11 months ago its was the cheapest amd64 laptop with the features that it has. I gave it a 5 only cause of the customer support and the parts it was constructed with. very cheap keyboard, hinges (that attaches the screen), and the cd-dvd-cd-rw (very cheap also) at the posting of this review e-machines has had my laptop for about 10 days. the screen went out and the day i got it back the cd-rom wasent working.

The install of SUSE 9.1 and 9.2 went well no complaints the wireless worked right out the box with 9.2.

at the moment this model can be purchased for 900 from tigerdirect and the newest model that replaced this model sells for 999 direct from emachines.

for the money I would spend a bit more and get a product that you will have less problems from in the long run. What made me purchase this laptop was all of the reviews however after further investigating I found allot of post just like mine on customer support problems.

I've been trying to get my wireless card on my eMachines 6805 working, and I have apparently hit a wall.

Using the directions at http://www.antionline.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=261359

I've gotten to were you enter "dmesg | grep wlan" as root, nothing comes up. Using iwlist I have a lo, eth0, eth1 and sat0 but no wlan of any sorts... (ofcourse no wireless on any of the other connections)

Anyone able to nudge me in the right direction?
