Description: WinTV-USB will allow viewing of television signals from three sources: S-Video, cable, or broadcast tv on a laptop or desktop computer.

Device driver and help forum (you'll need it) are at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/usbvision/
and
http://usbvision.sourceforge.net/

You must install this on a stock kernel from kernel.org (RedHat, Suse, Mandrake do not use stock kernels)

You CAN, however have kernel extensions applied to a stock kernel and it'll work. (example: works with the Win4Lin and transgamings extensions)

Works with USB-1, 1.1, and 2.

Installation can be very difficult, search the help forums and you'll find answers.

Once installed, it'll work with any xawtv-based viewer. Does not work with TV-Time.

this is the worst linux-compatibility i ever experienced ...

usbvision is found easily, but it will NOT compile on latest 2.6. kernels (2.6.7-2.6.9)

i finally compiled an older kernel and tried the device ... with a funny surprise: the picture is 1/2 VGA (very small tv-picture that is NOT resizable) and i have to go down with X resolution, to get a bigger tv-window, what makes the usage very un-handy :-(

the windows-driver uses compression and therefore somehow generates a bigger tv-window (resizable!)

tv-watching on this laptop is the only reason to boot to windows :-( ... hopefully, usbvision is becoming more stable and integrated in the 2.6. kernel tree
