Description: Second thinkpad i purchased in iraq. using slack 9.1, everything works, (havent tried the modem.) cpu is a 933 pentium 3 m stepping can be turned off in the bios so it will always run at top speed. threw in a dvd player and an extra 256M ram.

thinkpads are tough enough to survive this country and you can get them for 200-800 for a descent system..

Kernel (uname -r):
Distribution: Knoppix 3.3

Knoppix loaded instantly on my A30 with 384 megs RAM. Everything worked, without effort, including wireless networking.

I did not attempt to test the modem. LAN connection worked without effort, as did sound. Video was fine. No issues at all that I could detect.

My Caveo anti-theft pcmcia card is not supported, but I can still enable it and disable it using the motion password. I cannot configure it and it will not shut down/disable linux the way it will windows.

I have been thinking about making this a dual boot linux/XP but I need the XP on the road and I am concerned about potential security issues with a dual boot on the road, if it should be stolen.
