ATI makes some proprietary linux drivers, but they are by far inferior to their windows Catalyst drivers. Up until recently, very few games linux-ported games (UT, AA) would even run at all. Now, although they do run, performance is laughable even at the lowest detail levels.

Will not run Wine in any version. Haven't tried WineX but I'd imagine it wouldn't work either.

Doom 3's recent linux release will not run (some have actually managed to do so for very little time with heavy artifacts).

Under mandrake, the rpm that the drivers come in can't find QT and therefor can't install a control panel, unless you mess with your symlinks.

Bottom line: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY ATI IF YOU HAVE LINUX. Although basic agp support is possible with heavy module jury-rigging and kernel re-compiling, it'll only take you so far.

I got this card dirt cheap. I am using the real ATI version. I feel that some of the information in the product description is inaccurate, so I am posting my own:
lspci: VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] (rev 01)
chipset: Technically, it uses the RV280 chipset.

I have gotten DRI running fine with the open-source radeon drivers. I have not used Wine, so I cannot comment on the findings of the above user with respect to it.

ATI has apparently refused to give out specs for the TV output for fear that we'll get around Macrovision and they'll lose their license or something. There are apparently some TV output drivers in the GATOS source tree, but I haven't checked their quality (and somehow I doubt they would be sufficient in their current state).

I have not noticed any problems of any kind, then again I use my system mainly for buisness and email. The card was configured and installed by SuSE on the initial install without any error messages or problems.

2D and 3D work well with the open-source driver. The binary driver seems to be quite buggy but who needs it anyway?
