Kernel (uname -r): 2.4.21-0.13mdk
Distribution: Mandrake 9.1

HP is one of the few manufacturers that are committed to developing Linux drivers for all their printers, scanners etc. To this end, the support and quality of the required drivers is excellent. Must see links are the HP OfficeJet Linux driver home page and HP Linux Driver Project. They contain all the documentation, software and links needed to get the PSC1350 up and running.

All it takes is some reading and the required packages.

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.3-14mdk
Distribution: Mandrake 10

With the default (2.6.3-4mdk) mdk10 kernel and the hpoj-0.91 drivers (hpoj.sourceforge.net), scanning and card reading worked well enough (mounting a card is still pretty slow). However, when I tried to print the printer would just spit out blank paper. It turns out it was a bug introduced in the 2.6.3-4mdk kernel then fixed in the 2.6.3-7mdk kernel. Once I updated my kernel, printing worked great. I had to install my printer using the cups admin interface (http://localhost:631), not the mandrake control centre.

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.10-gentoo-r7
Distribution: Gentoo

PSC 1315

NOTE:
The PSC printers model numbers are composed of the first pair designing the model itself and the second pair related to HP's own local code.

USian PSC 1350 are the same machines as UErian 1315

I have used 3 different drivers:

HPOJ (in the portage tree)
HPLIP (not in portage, make install gives errors)
HPIJS (also in portage)

All the drivers are OK, being able to scan, print and copy. OCR works OK.

For non-Gentoo users I would highly recommend HPLIP, the official HP driver, as it has packages for many distros: http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/
