Description: The Epson 925 is a 6 color USB Photo printer with a memory card reader. It reads Compact Flash type 1&2, IBM Microdrive, Memory Stick, and SmartMedia. Prints without being connected to computer. Works completely with the Cups print driver. The memory cards appear as a USB device to Linux on my system /dev/sda1 with kernel 2.4.22 and 2.6test9. Reads SmartMedia data perfectly from the USB port and can save to disk. I have not tested the other media yet, because I own none of them. Print output of Photo and text is Excellent.

The gui print configuration immediately recognised this printer and as being connected by usb. I bought this item off ebay, thus the low price, no users manual was included. Epson website will provide this though.

My main printer is brother hl1440- a monochrome laser. So the epson is just for photos. I used run of the mill paper for the test page, the colors were brilliant and the definitions was crisp and tight.

Epson also supports linux! A great incentive to purchase. My mom's husband is a photographer and he uses nothing but epson for printing, another endorsment.

This epson has all sorts of bells and whistles. There is an after market 1.6 inch lcd screen to view photos (the printer reads major types of camera memory) so no menus are needed to print the photos desired. There is also a 4 inch roller available to store a roll of photo paper to print 4x6 photos. There is a cutter for this, unkown if the roller and cutter are sold as a unit.

If you want an all around printer, do not buy this. You are probably looking at 30 cents a page. Most monochrom laser printers cost 1 to 3 cents per page. As cheap as linux compatible lasers are, the epson with a laser would be a good buy.
