This particular laptop gave me a lot of grief, but only because the motherboard had some serious problems with memory management. Thanks to some people here at LQ, I found that the memory controller had issues. I would not have found it otherwise. If you have a good working solo 9300 then there should be no problem installing linux on it. At least I hope. Thanks.

Can't get the video driver to work correctly. I get video, but no 3d rendering at all. I know this is an old laptop, but I'd like to see it play a DVD or an AVI file or something... it runs the distro quite well other than that. buttons for stop, play, pause, volume, ect. don't work either... but they are not mission critical...

if someone has some experience with this machine, I'd appreciate the help.
