With CUPS and hpijs this printer gives full compatability. Great printing, photographs come out well everytime.

The only thing that could be better, is a way to get it to clean or align its print head, or return ink levels from the computer.

You can do both of these in a general manner from the printer itself, but the ink levels or only general. and theres no way to align the head ( Alhtough I've had no problems there. ).

Sorry can't remember price, some time ago now.

Excellent results. The 9/10 rather than 10/10 is for 2 reasons:

1 - There is no working "Duplex" system in the driver.

2 - In Gentoo, foomatic is not emerged automatically with CUPS and hpijs, and if you don't realise that, you can end up with a relatively poor driver which only does up to 600x600.

With the foomatic-db as well as cups and hpijs, you get wonderful 1200x1200 photo prints, I have to say that the Windows drivers leave a tiny but present banding artefact, but the Linux printing is just great! I never print direct from GIMP, I always "size up" and crop my photos using Scribus and they are perfect!

This printer is a PC-World issue of the 3820 and is identical. Probably to avoid "price matching". A poster said that there were problems with OpenOffice. The workaround is to print from openoffice to "kprinter". I have downloaded the OOo2 beta, version 1.9.62, and there is no nonsense, the printers listed are those set up in CUPS and work more or less as if you had selected them from a KDE dialog. So that problem is temporary and probably more to do with OOo.
