I was given this laptop. The battery was dead and it didn't have a CD drive. I had to suffer through Windows 98SE for about 2 weeks until I bought a CDROM and battery. Slackware went on the same day I got the drive. Slackware worked good after a fresh install. I only had to tweak a few minor things to get it just the way I wanted.

Now it's running Gentoo 2004.3 and I really like it. I haven't had any issues that couldn't be resolved with a little Gentoo forum searching.

I've used two different NICs in it. A Xircom 10/100+56K and a Netgear MA401. The Xircom NIC and modem both worked without issue. The wireless Netgear also works without problems or extra configuration.

Installed with no problems. Using a Xircom 10/100 network card also. Anything I've tried to do has been flawless.

Installed perfectly, network (xircom card as well) worked out of the box, as did the modem.

Having a few problems with the video card; as I receive the message "the monitor did not report its x, y dimensions, do you wish to set them now".

Also, a little slow if you try to do more then one thing at once (only has 128Mb RAM).

Cant complain about it however!

This is a Pentium 3 500Mhz model.

Worked perfectly and found everything other than the modem for some reason (but to me that's unimportant. I have ethernet network connectivity to my router, which connects to a cable modem). I'm using a 3Com FEM656C modem and ethernet combo card.

Mandrake 10 out of the box runs faster on this machine than a tweaked out Windows XP Professional does!
