This Sony PCG-V505EX works well with Linux, I was able to replace the internal HD myself the process was simply to remove the bottom screws and the 4 screws holding it to the frame. I have used Freespire 1.0.13, Ubuntu 7.04, Mepis, knoppix, Debian and Sidux with Sidux having the best hardware detection of all the distros tested. The wireless required a firmware update ipw2200 ver 3.0.2 it has worked very well and connects well to my Linksys wireless wrt54 router. my infobash Host/Kernel/OS "Newsroom" running Linux 2.6.20.7-slh-up-1 i686 [ sidux 2007-01 - Χάος (200702210759) ] CPU Info Intel Pentium M 1024 KB cache flags( sse sse2 ) clocked at [ 1500.000 MHz ] Videocard ATI M9+ 5C61 [Radeon Mobility 9200 (AGP)] X.Org 1.3.0 [ 1024x768 @60hz ] Network cards Intel 82801DB PRO/100 VE (MOB) Ethernet Controller, at port: 4000 Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Processes 99 | Uptime 4:46 | Memory 159.5/503.4MB | HDD Hitachi HTS541260H9AT00,Sony MSC-U04 Size 60GB (26%used) | Client Shell | Infobash v2.66
