I used this with Mandriva LE2005 and it worked fine with Digikam. I had a little more trouble with Slackware. I think it was more a Digikam problem though. I eventually got it to work using gphoto2 from the command line. It's compatible anyway. Not so sure I'd recommend the camera itself though. Very fiddly to use and a terrible menu. Get some rechargeable batteries if you do use it.

Under mandriva this was a doddle. The printer requires hplip but mandriva automatically sets it up if its plugged in and turned on when you start up. It also automatically sets up xsane so basically it all works out of the box. I noticed that you also now get the hp toolbox allowing you to clean and align the cartridges so all of the software that comes with this printer and which will only run under windows or mac is now available for linux and works just as well if not better. As with most things Linux once its set up it works very well. I'm also using this with Slackware 10.1 and so far I've only got the printer to run using hpijs which is automatically installed via localhost:631. When I sort the scanner out I will update.

Didn't need to configure this or anthing else with Mandrake 10.1. It just worked straight away. I also had Slackware 10.1 installed briefly and that too gave me internet access without any extra legwork. Personally I would recommend this instead of the wireless version because you don't have security issues or connection issues. Wireless can be a bit hit and miss. If you can, 4 computers or printers etc can be hooked up to this. And using LAN instead of USB to connect to the internet is probably quicker and far more convenient. An excellent product.

As someone said above it works perfectly with mandrake out-of-the-box. I did notice however that it doesn't automatically pick up my agp 8* nvidia graphics card and lists it as PCI 1. I haven't found that this causes any problems though and isn't actually related to linux as such. It's a very good motherboard, although a budget one, and therefore perhaps doesn't have the functionality of a more expensive one. For example you could use 2 DVD drives and 2 hard drives maximum. Very useful 2 front USB ports. And the VIA chipset is picked up by Mandrake and works great.
