I've only tested this using System Rescue (based on Gentoo) and MEPIS live CDs. The on-board ethernet isn't detected by recent distributions (Ubuntu 5.10 for example). Upset because there are only 3 PCI slots and one now has to be used for ethernet. I might try ndiswrapper and use the driver that comes with the motherboard. System Rescue detected a module for the sound, so I assume it works (snd-intel8x0 I believe). Great board for the price if you don't mind sacrificing $15 and a PCI slot to get online.

Not sure how it works with midi (I haven't had any luck with midi and my SoundBlaster so I never attempted it on this) Didn't try using the digital in/out either... Basically just left that attachment thing in the box and just used the stereo RCA from a small mixer. Works excellently, and is detected with all recent alsa versions. I used it for recording guitar and bass. I had it in with an ISA SoundBlaster AWE64... try to only have one soundcard. No serious problems.
