 I used Gimp-Print BJC7000, BJC7004 or BJC7100 driver for this printer. Canon Japan have drivers on their website and here: http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/bj/other.html but I have been unable to get them to work so far. Non-free alternative may be Turboprint(http://www.turboprint.de), but I haven't tried it. BJC drivers allow good plain paper printing up to 600dpi (high quality). Using higher settings results in double width output rather than higher resolution. Front paper cartridge doesn't work, driver overrides to rear sheet feeder if manually selected. CD Printing doesn't work.

 Behaves as external SCSI DVD-ROM. Detected as /dev/sr0 and /dev/sg0. Mounts Read-Only as /dev/sr0. Discs must be finalised before they can be mounted or accessed. Using DVD-RW results in all files being saved as one long mpeg file. DVD-R has discrete mpeg files for each take. It's actually faster to remove dvd and put it in a DVD-ROM drive to get files if you have one. DVDs can be viewed as DVDs using mplayer or xine, or extract mpeg files and edit using avidemux. Not yet tried to write to DVDs using growisofs but should be possible.

 Mounts as USB mass storage device or PTP using Gphoto2 (use the generic PTP USB option) which makes it more compatible with Linux than Windows! (Can't use in PTP mode under Windows) Watch out for possible Konqueror crash when you mount it as a mass storage device under KDE 3.2. PTP is more stable. Webcam mode doesn't work.
