Crash and Partial Recovery

The laptop crashed yesterday. Said it didn't have enough disk space to log on. Don't know what happened.
Used the Ubuntu 7.4 disk to rebuild. Then used the rsync to retrieve stuff from the USB drive. That device saved my butt.
Got hung up on the rsync command, until I remembered that the OPTION is NOT optional. This is still confusing to me.
Now, all seems fine, but the way the thumbnails display. Instead of a preview of the pic, it shows a blue box. I'll deal with this later.
I'm busy getting ready to move to Saba. Woo hoo.
