SUSE - the ideal laptop distro

SUSE Linux is probably the most ideal distro for a laptop. I recently acquired a HP nx6110 laptop and I installed SuSE without a problem. As I had mentioned in my <a href="http://www.linuxquestions.org/reviews/showproduct.php?product=614#review12">SuSE 10 review</a> at LQ recently SUSE is quite a polished professional distro.
I was impressed by the way SuSE autodetected most of the settings required for a laptop including power management as well as USB device auto-detection. SuSE was minimal fuss and the post-install configuration was limited to merely setting the system date and time and a few locale-specific settings.
Ideal for a laptop where you probably need to get it up and running without many issues and you don't have an internet connection to do the installation.

I ran SuSE after RedHat for a few years a friend of mine at IBM did some programming and they had took on SuSE to use with their equipment. It's a good distro but after using it i jumped to slack and even some *BSD's. Linux has come a long way a lot of hardware is supported but i personally prefer having dual boot machines to be able to have windows as well. I use <a href="http://www.superwarehouse.com/external_hard_drives/c2b/2361">external hard drives</a> to store important data so they are not constantly being used and even have some running linux that i can boot from.Posted 12-31-1969 at 07:00 PM by hs123
